Video Transcript for Ultra-Fab Products Skid Wheels - Frame Mount - UF48-979023 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number UF48-979023. This is the ultrafab steel jumbo roller for trailers and RVs. The unique roller is going to weld onto the frame of your trailer or motorhome and that is going to help prevent tail dragging and digging in while backing up. It's made from a heavy duty steel construction. It's very strong, extra durable, it is designed for a weld-on installation. One of the things I want to point out is, here on the this side, you're going to notice a grease fitting.

It allows for easy maintenance and easy lubrication. The wheel or the roller here is going to have internal bearings that need to be lubricated and a inaudible 00:00:36 fitting makes that very easy to do that. We're going to go and take out these components here. It's going to come with your lock nut, you're going to get your bolt. Again, it's got the fitting in there, pump it in, your grease is going to come out of this portion right there which is going to line up with the holes inside here and that's designed to grease the bearings inside the roller. You're going to get the roller and the weld-on bracket. Now with this part, you're going to get one assembly.

We're going to take a look at the overall dimensions real quick. When it comes to just the roller, that's going to give us a diameter of about two and a half inches. Taking a measurement here of the weld-on bracket, measuring in this direction, outer edge to outer edge, we're looking at about three inches. If we go this direction, edge to edge, that's going to give us a measurement of about two and a half inches. Take a look at the overall height from the bottom of the roller to the top of the bracket, see there it's going to give us a measurement of about three and a half inches. That's going to do it for our review of part number UF48-979023.

This is the ultrafab jumbo roller for trailers and RVs. .

These are high quality and work extremely well on the back of our trailer. Highly recommended

Great , I have towed the trailer up and down a variety of steep approaches into some gas stations and the wheels worked perfectly. No damages done. They hit the wheels and lifted the trailer up so no damage occurred. High key recommended

@George Glad to hear that the # UF48-979023 skid wheels are still working well for you.

by:

Very well made product…a little difficult to install but hopefully will prevent further damage to my electric stabilizer jacks. Instead of welding to frame…which I probably could not have done..I welded them to a steel plate and bolted them to the bumper braces and bumper which also gave me a position farther back to allow more clearance.

by:

Just got them installed on my 48ft flatbed (Feb 8th) looks good and works as I expected. I purchased 3 but only used 2. Would love to send the one back.

Out of all the rollers I have purchased, this one is still holding up. I have been in some tough places and when I think its done, their still working with no issues. Worth every penny!

by:

I installed 4 on the tail of my hotshot gn trailer. They work pretty well but they would be much better if they were available in 12”-18” widths. Often, when on a steep incline my I tire trailer is completely resting on the skid wheels only and due to their minimal width sometime they damage asphalt

by:

I have high hopes for these. They are installed, but untested, the reason for only four stars. My welder welded them to a 2 inch tubular steel piece and then to the bottom of the I-beam frame of my 27’ Travel Trailer. He also added a small triangular piece at the front, as you can see in the photos. I’m hoping that if and when they get “used”, that they won’t twist the I-beam laterally.

Wow, these things took a beating last year, and saved my rear trailer jacks on many occasions. They are all greased up this spring and ready to take on more uneven driveways and fresh asphalt. Sorry Highways Dept. I would also update my 4 star rating to 5

These wheels have saved my rear jacks numerous times. These will be a main staple of any future trailer also. I’m impressed !!!

by:

Can't get a more basic product. Bought a 28 foot gooseneck enclosed trailer. have a 15 foot long apron to back into my parking pad that also rises nearly 2 feet in elevation. Bought these to make sure the few times the back end would get low enough due to approach angle, I'd be rolling on these rather than scraping rear. I welded on the last 6 inches of the tube steel stringers that comprise the bulk of the under structure of this trailer.

by:

These were just what i was looking for. Very strong. My driveway is very steep and even with the ramp I built I was still having issues with dragging the skids on the hitch. As you can see from the pictures I set them just a little lower than the skids. They work great.

by:

I purchased this product as a last resort because I purchased other types that did not work. The back of my trailer was getting ripped apart every time I went out of a driveway. I installed these on the back of my 24ft enclosed car trailer and problem is solved. They work great, my trailer is not being damaged anymore and I am very happy with them. I would recommend them to anyone who has a trailer with a long overhang from the wheels and has the same problem that I HAD. GREAT PRODUCT.

After having these wheels on the back of my trailer, and traveling all over the US pulling it with my motorhome, going in and out of gas station driveways and all other terrain in this great country the wheels that I bought work great. It is a great product and I highly recommend them. HAPPY CAMPER . Vinny L

Heavy duty rollers with internal bearings and grease zerks. Now I don't have to worry about damaging my trailer pulling into a parking lot.

by:

as usual, fast delivery on reasonably priced item

by:

I have only installed them at this point, but the quality of the metal is great. A toque spec for the through bolt would have been nice, as well as optimal roll suggestion. I tightened the bolts so that the roller could roll freely without friction, but there are slight gaps. If you close the gaps the rollers will still roll but with a fair amount of friction. In my photo you can see I used a 2x4 as a straight edge from the tire to the roller to make sure my Jack would not drag in the future.

by:

I purchased this for my fathers trailer because it skids going up and down his driveway. He never installed them on his trailer. However, when I received them, they were heavy and robust. They looked similar in appearance to the skid wheels that are on my trailer. Mine work excellent and have yet to fail, bend, wobble, or break. Anyone in need of a skid wheel should consider this product.

by:

I just rec'd the steel rollers, so I have not yet had the opportunity to have them welded onto my motorhome. However, they are pretty heavy (that tells me they are probably up for the job) and they appear to be exactly what will solve my problem. They appear to me made very well. So for now, I am very pleased.

by:

These wheels are well made and excellent. Durable and helps prevent damage to the back of our trailer

by:

Looks well made. Just what I needed to protect the rest of my 22’ RV trailer. I already dragged the rear of the unit when I pulled into a gas station. These will work well.

by:

Waiting on the welder to install these on our car club trailer. I have the same product on my car trailer, and I will stand on a soap box every day to sing the praises of the product in functionality, in design, and in durability!!

Great product. These skid wheels have saved the bottom side of the back of the trailer. No more damage!! We have installed these on both private 28 enclosed car hauler trailer and on our 24 enclosed car club trailer.

by:

This was a replacement for one that broke related to weight & going over railroad tracks causing the impact to break the center pin end off. I've had a set of these on my horse trailer for a few yrs & they've done great!

by:

I haven't had product welded in place yet, but am impressed with the quality. These hitch saving wheels should take care of my tail dragging issue on 49' rig. Thanks for prompt service. Would be helpful to RV park if my name was on order, as order was placed. This issue has happened previously when I had sent to N RV park. All else very good!

by:

Work really well

by:

I had these professionally welded on my 15K pound 43 ft fifth wheel. Without a doubt these saved my rig from damage on multiple occasions and they did not get damaged in the process either. I highly recommend them to anyone who has a trailer or RV that drags it’s tail.

by:

Great product! I had these welded on the frame rails just before the rear bumper on my 32' travel trailer. The driveway to my RV pad rises almost 6 feet in 25 feet, the trailer virtually rides on these wheels and the hitch to back it in! After a year, the concrete driveway is showing damage, but these wheels look good as new. I highly recommend them

by:

These are heavy duty AF! Incredibly heavy and strong. I just wish the inside of the bracket had some type of coating to help inhibit rust. I'll definitely paint the exposed outside once it's welded, but painting the inside of the bracket will be difficult.

You have already suggested what I would recommend by using a rust resistant paint to help prevent corrosion. Using a spray paint option would help in reaching the inside of the bracket.

by:

Got these welded on at a local shop, work like a charm and prevent the tail of my 24 foot car hauler from dragging going in and out of driveways. As always, great price and fast shipping from etrailer.

by:

Like everything else I've purchased from etrailer over the past few years,"PERFECT". Dose the job it was designed for. Tough as hell.Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.Great product and great service from etrailer, as always.

The main thing I would look at is the surface area between the Ultra-Fab Steel Jumbo Roller # UF48-979023 and Ultra-Fab Steel Micro-Roller # UF48-979021. The Jumbo Roller is going to have a slightly larger surface area with the size of the roller being larger 2-1/2" diameter vs 2" on the Micro-Roller.
